Tickets: $8 adult; $5 children; $7 students 12+, college students, seniors. Members free.Harpsichordist, astronomer and historian R.P. Hale presents a special Friday evening event, âQui Est in Coelis,â his acclaimed program of music spanning over 2,600 years of various cultures celebrating astronomy, the seasons, and the skies. He will perform on grand harpsichord, grand dulcimer and Inca pipes combined with the amazing acoustics of the Planetarium theater, letting the audience experience these instruments up close and personally. The music ranges from Yiâang Chinese works dating from 875 BC, through India, the Middle East, Ukraine, northern Africa, the Mesoamerican cultures, and individuals including Leonardo da Vinci, Playford, Purcell and Mozart. The concert will finish with the 1790 Sixth Concerto by the 18th-century harpsichordist-astronomer Sir William Herschel, the discoverer of the planet Uranus and of infrared radiation.
