Agape Christian Academy Reviews

Agape was a school dedicated to good, quality Christian education. In recent years, it has declined to a lukewarm condition. This is reflective of a loss of vision on the part of Pastor Del Turco, his wife, and the school administration. They are preparing to move to a new facility. After parents were granted a tour of the new building, it was apparent that the vision was for church growth and not school growth. Out of the 4 floors of the new complex, 3 were dedicated to church use. Only 1 floor will accomodate all grades Preschool to 8th grade. Lavish offices and furnishings are provided for church leadership, but scarcity is found in classrooms. Spiritual climate does not promote freedom of worship, but is one of indoctrination.

Agape is a school that has lost its vision for Christian education. This has begun, especially, in the hearts of the Pastor, his wife, and the school administration. This is clearly seen in the new building facilities they are planning to move into. Out of 4 floors, 3 of the floors are dedicated to the church for use. All grades, Prek - Grade 8 will be confined to one floor. In addition, the adminstrative offices are decorated lavishly, while classrooms are thread bare. 25% of the ministry is focused on the Christian school vision, while 75% is for church. Agape's academic and spiritual climate are also waning. They once promoted freedom of worship, but now an environment of indoctrination. It is sad to see a once thriving school make such a rapid decline.

Agape was a school on the cutting edge 10 years ago, but it dropped to mediocre conditions in recent years beginning especially in the areas of administration. They were a thriving Pre k through 12th grade at one time, but it was decided that the high school would be closed abruptly and parents weren't informed until the spring before the closing took place in June of 2001. The student body numbers are not where it once was and the teaching staff is hardly up to the par as it once was. It is very sad to see a Christian school wane in its vision as the need for good quality Christian schools in the Northeast is so great especially for middle school and high school students.
