Lyndon Reviews

I am very pleased with the Lyndon. It is a great school, great teachers, alot of parent involvement. Over the last few years they have started an afterschool activity program. My daughter (6th grader) is taking African Dancing. She loves it. She is very happy here and I am very happy that she was able to get tnto this school!

The Lyndon's strongest area is parental involvement. However, this is not always welcomed by the management team. Parental concerns are not typically addressed. This school is on a nice street in a nice neighborhood. This doesn't make it a 'safe' school. Many incidents that occur at the school are brushed under the rug. This way the management team maintains its position as the 'it' school.

The Lyndon School exhibits a strong curriculum and posts good results on most standard tests and MCAS. For the most part, teachers are young, vibrant, and engaging of the students. As a pilot school, there is some autonomy from the Boston Public Schools with hiring, budget, etc. The principal leadership is a three member management team which needs more oversight from BPS. They are not highly responsive to parental concerns and do not encourage parental involvement. There are no after school activities - sports, social or otherwise- more do to the managemnt team's style rather than budget constraints or lack of participants. If changes are made in the management structure and parental involvement encouraged, this could be an outstanding school.
